Lake Hills Drawdown: What You Need to Know

Dear Lake Hills Community,

We would like to inform you about an upcoming event. On October 23rd, 2023, the Lake Hills Association is planning to initiate a drawdown of the lake, which will bring water levels down to approximately 6-8 feet below full capacity. This action is part of our regular maintenance schedule, with the last drawdown occurring in 2021, and typically takes place every 2-3 years to ensure the health and longevity of our beloved lake.

The drawdown process is anticipated to last approximately 5 weeks - Dec 5th, but please bear in mind that the duration and the time required to refill the lake will be influenced by weather conditions and the rate of incoming water from various sources. Daily fluctuations in water levels may also occur due to factors such as rainfall.

We kindly request that no equipment or materials be left unattended in the lakebed during this period. Additionally, we strongly encourage all lake residents to secure their boats properly to prevent any potential damage or inconvenience during the drawdown.

It might be prudent to have all boats removed beforehand if possible. Attempting to tow boats out when the water level is low could potentially lead to vehicles getting stuck in the muck or causing damage to the lakebed.

This scheduled drawdown offers an excellent opportunity for property owners to perform essential maintenance on their docks, undertake any necessary mucking of swim areas, and address any repair work that may be required.

During the drawdown period, exercise utmost care. Keep a close watch on children and pets, as they are susceptible to getting entangled in the muck. For guidelines on Lakeside docks and property restrictions, please consult the bylaws.

For your convenience, we will communicate updates and information related to the drawdown through the following channels:

  • Lake Hills Website

  • Lake Hills Email Blast

Please stay tuned to these platforms for timely updates, important announcements, and any changes in the drawdown schedule.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
